Current projects include developing a remarkable biorobot designed to aid in the recovery from severe muscle injuries and creating new, advanced dental implants that resist infections. These projects aim to improve patients' quality of life by facilitating faster recovery and reducing complications from traditional treatments.
Mahesh Ramamoorthy — Dr. Mahesh Ramamoorthy's lab at Cleveland State University focuses on understanding how specific proteins influence blood cell development, especially in the production of hemoglobin. They study a protein called Stag1, which plays a crucial role in the maturation of red blood cells. By uncovering the mechanisms of how Stag1 regulates gene expression during this process, the lab aims to provide insights that could lead to new treatments for blood disorders like anemia and thalassemia.
