Research Focus
Dr. Thorsten Kirsch’s lab focuses on understanding the biological and imaging markers related to posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) that develops after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. The lab investigates how cellular responses and molecular changes after an injury can predict the progression of joint damage over time. By analyzing synovial fluid and utilizing advanced MRI techniques, the research aims to identify potential biomarkers for early diagnosis and treatment of PTOA.
