Research Focus
Dr. Kwang Hun Lim's lab focuses on understanding how certain metal ions cause the misfolding of a protein called transthyretin (TTR), which is related to serious diseases like ATTR amyloidosis. By studying how these proteins change structure and form toxic aggregates, the lab aims to find ways to prevent these harmful processes. This research is important because misfolded proteins can lead to a range of debilitating neurodegenerative disorders.
