Dr. Angela Raquel Wahl's lab focuses on understanding the role of myeloid cells, particularly microglia, in the persistence of HIV in the brain. By studying these cells in a humanized mouse model, her research aims to uncover how HIV might hide in the brain, avoid eradication strategies, and lead to complications in patients even when treated with antiretroviral therapy. Ultimately, this work seeks to contribute to the development of more effective HIV cure strategies that can target the central nervous system.
Career totals from OpenAlex, compared against labs that share a department. A department spans everything from one paper to tens of thousands, so bar heights are on a log scale — otherwise the largest lab would flatten every other bar to a line.
