Research Focus
Dr. Linden T. Hu's lab investigates the complex factors that contribute to persistent symptoms following Lyme disease treatment, known as Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS). The lab employs a comprehensive approach, bringing together experts to study immune responses, bacterial behaviors, and other elements that may play a role in the disease. This research aims to uncover why some patients continue to experience symptoms and to develop better diagnostic tools and treatments for Lyme disease.

Research Aims
5AIM 01Investigate the development of anti-lipid antibodies in Lyme disease patients across different stages of the illness.
AIM 02Analyze the relationship between auto-antibody levels and persistent symptoms in patients with PTLDS.
AIM 03Develop and implement an animal model to study the effects of PTLDS related antibodies on pain and behavior.
AIM 04Establish a comprehensive specimen bank to support further research on Lyme disease and PTLDS.
AIM 05Explore the multifactorial causes of PTLDS through a prospective study of patients from diagnosis to recovery.
